I was a gruelling 12 hour days sanding floors and taking wallpaper down with one child strapped on my back while the other babies were crawling inside the playpen. Ha! We were getting closer to being done, yet we were a long distance to go. In this undertaking, I was prepared to spend a considerable amount of time and money searching for the perfect home. To keep the cost within my means I took my sons with me to look for hidden treasures at estate sales. Every week, we would stroll through estate and garage sales on Thursdays and Saturdays, purchasing a mix of new and old pieces. I then spent my weekdays painting and sanding outside in our driveway. The furniture I found looked like... This is when my passion to restore furniture started. When our home was fully furnished, I could not stop! There was an area on the market, where I would sell things. Eventually, I had too many pieces to store in the room available. I hosted open houses in my home where one 000 visitors would pass through over a weekend, and visitors could buy anything from the ground level. That's how my company Growing Days was born. The business wasn't just thriving but I was growing my sweet family too. I was trying to find that perfect balance between what it took starting a business and be a mommy too. Growing Days fit perfectly. Nora came into our lives in 2013 to be our fourth baby. Although I was happy about the direction my company was taking, I realized that I was in need of a little break. I decided to quit building my old furniture for a while and spend time with my children. This was precisely what I needed at that moment. The phone rang again after a while. A lot of people contacted me to ask for advice on home improvement and decorating. A majority of those calling me came from people who came to my house at one of my furniture open house events. In the following months, I began to take on new clients at my own speed. Soon I had multiple customers and was operating an enterprise of renovations to homes. There is a good chance that I would have laughed if I had been told that the venture was going to be the premise of an upcoming TV show in the DIY Network. In fact, I laugh at times when I think of it.
